It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

I need to pray for bigger things

God answers prayer and is personal. I can forget this at times. Not only does He answer prayer, but He also loves to answer those impossible, BIG prayers. Click to read more

Have you ever had an experience, and the only explanation was God? President's Weekend 2021, Pete and I traveled to Phoenix for a long weekend. We wanted somewhere warm that we could get out of the cold and be outside. We wanted to sit by a pool and relax. My brother Mark lives in Scottsdale, and I hadn't seen him since my dad's funeral over a decade ago. I have respected his wishes not to contact him. During that weekend, I would map out my location to his address to see how far away he lived. I worked on my bible study during this time away. The main topic was faith. The words kept ringing in my ears, even if you have faith as small as a mustard seed. On our last day, I prayed and asked God to make my brother's and my paths intersect. I knew God could make this happen. Jesus said, "If we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move". Later that day, Pete and I rented bikes. I rode around the parking lot while I waited for Pete to get ready. I went down one aisle and up the next. Mark was right in front of me, coming out of the Ace Hardware. WHATTTT. I called out to him, "Mark," and he said, "Who goes there?" I said, "It's your sister Sue". I got closer, and we hugged. Mark invited Pete and me to come over to his house, which wasn't far. He told me that Jodi, his ex-wife, was coming over with her dog, and Lora, his girlfriend, was there too. God set the stage. Mark's openness took me by surprise. A year earlier, he wouldn't even respond to a text I sent him. We had just picked up the bikes and rented them for an hour. I wanted to go over to Mark's house right then, but we ended up riding bikes for an hour instead. WOW, GOD! He answered my prayer and orchestrated the encounter. Jodi would be there too. She was like a sister. We had kept in touch. I had met Lora once, fifteen years prior. Pete and Mark went to his backyard to see the landscape project he had been working on. I regret not joining them. Instead, I stayed inside to visit with Lora and Jodi. I would have loved to have seen the backyard and visit a little more. Lora said, "I am the one who sent Mark to Ace Hardware to get tubing for our fish tank." The first thing Mark shared with Jodi when she got over to their house was, "You're not going to believe who I just ran into? My sister Sue." God opened the door for us to have this encounter. He knew my heart and how much I yearned to connect with him. He answered my prayer. It was a short visit. I am glad we got some time together. He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

I learned that my prayers need to include bigger things than I was presently praying for.

Prayer can be tricky at times. I can play it safe by praying for predictable things. I can forget that God answers all prayer. The encounter I had with my brother is a reminder to pray for all things and EXPECT God to answer.
